Basil "Ruby Bouquet" - Ocimum basilicum L.
A fragrance worthy of kings!
Mid-ripening variety: 65-70 days from germination to flowering. The bushes are 40-50 cm high, weighing 250-300 g. The aroma of the plant is dominated by a note of allspice.
Leaves and young shoots are used fresh as a spicy flavoring additive in home cooking. They perfectly retain their aroma when dried and frozen.
Young shoots with leaves 10-12 cm long are used for food. They are cut several times, preventing flowering.
Agrotechnology.
Basil is a heat-loving, annual plant from the mint family (Lamiaceae). It prefers warm, humus-rich, light soils in a well-lit area.
In the conditions of Estonia, it is better to grow through seedlings. To do this, seeds are sown in late March - early April to a depth of 0.5-1.0 cm.
Sowing rate: 0.3 g per 100 plants, the distance between rows is 5-6 cm.
Seedlings are planted out after June 5 according to a 25x25 cm scheme.
Care consists of loosening, weeding, and watering.
During the growing season, 2-3 cuts are carried out.
